I’ve met this timid kitty twice now on Ferry Road.
It doesn’t run away but it isn’t exactly friendly either. It may frequent this spot as it is next to the river, and therefore there is a good chance of rats…

I met this distinctive looking black and white cat while out for a lunchtime walk.
Shy at first, it was soon rolling around on the warm concrete.
This beautiful cat greeted me on my morning run, or at least didn’t scamper when I came running up.
After a brief visit we went our seperate ways. Or rather I left and the cat just stayed where it was enjoying the morning.
I had to fit my small car into a parallel parking spot and this kitty helpfully mewed encouraging instructions while I was doing it.
We’ve been riding The West Coast Wilderness Cycle Trail and have encountered quite a few dogs along the way. One of my favourite dogs I haven’t been able to photograph as it has been in a bike basket going the opposite direction both times I have seen it. A small black dog, secured in by a harness to a front bike basket, it is incredibly cute!
However I have been able to photograph many other dogs along the way including these two dogs on a short walk we took off the trail.
Keen on playing chase the stick (small log more like), they were mostly very well behaved.
Popping into Hurunui Jack’s for a piece of cake and a pot of tea, we found it was “guarded” by a small friendly terrier.
Best seat in the house belongs to the dog, of course.
And then there was this happy little dog in Sock World in Hokitika.
She likes belly rubs and has a constant stream of people willing to oblige.
It’s Good Friday today, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw a pair of bunnies run across my path. You can barely make them out but just look for the fluffy white tail.
Being around dawn I then saw quite a few more including two black bunnies that perhaps used to be domestic pets.
And just before I finished I saw a couple of baby bunnies, one of whom let me get close enough to take a portrait.
This black and white cat was doing a great job of looking cool as a cucumber on this super warm day.
I took a detour down a side road today in search of a short cut. I didn’t find a short cut but I did find about half a dozen small anthills covered in ants.
You’ll have to trust me that there are ants in this picture as they are very hard to make out. I was quite surprised to see these anthills as you don’t often see them in New Zealand, unlike places like California and Australia were they are much more common and the ants that inhabit them are much more vicious.
Met this beautiful and friendly grey cat on a couple of recent walks.
I believe it is a British Blue.
It has unbelievably soft fur, and crossed the street specifically to solicit cuddles.
I saw these cute goats, alongside Birches Rd near Prebbleton, trying to keep cool in the hot weather today.
They seemed quite interested in us, and I could have happily watched them back for quite a while!
