The campground we spent our first night on the Queen Charlotte Track was in a small orchard. It was home to about half a dozen chickens of various breeds.
These chickens were pretty entertaining to watch, as they managed to fulfil a range of roles around the camp. This included clearing up scraps around the dish washing station.
They also provided an alarm service, by clucking right outside your tent when it was time to wake up.
They didn’t seem at all upset by the arrival of the three spritely little dogs that live at the camp. They must have gotten used to each other.
